An old fuse board is the weakest link in a house. This is what a new one should look like inside.
A modern consumer unit gives every circuit its own protection, so a fault in one place stops tripping the whole house — and the risk of fire and shock drops sharply.
One customer noticed that the screw heads on the fittings all faced the same direction. That is the standard: cables dressed and combed, circuits identified and labelled, an inspection date on the board and certification in your hand.

We contacted James about a switch for our electric fire which was stuck in position. Although it was a simple job, he replied immediately, gave us a price and a date to replace the switch!
Just before he arrived, he phoned to say he was on his way and arrived promptly! James was efficient and friendly. He replaced the switch to our satisfaction and we have asked him to renew our fuse board now because we were so happy with his work! Thank you, James.

James was on time to give the quote for the work and then the job. Work carried out to high standard. Everything was explained to me what had been done. House was left clean and tidy. They even mopped the floor and hoovered. Would definitely recommend.

Just had James and Josh at our house to do some work and what can I say absolute professional from start to finish from first visit to the quote to coming and completing the work, turned up on the day and time they said they would, completely hassle free the workmanship was top quality and good value for money, they were also so tidy not one scrap of mess left anywhere. I would not hesitate to use this company in the future and can highly recommend them, when people ask me do I know any good electricians, well I do now.

Questions
How long does a board change take?
Typically a day, including testing every circuit in the house. The power is off for part of it, and the timing is agreed with you first.
Do I have to upgrade my fuse board?
Not automatically. If your board has no RCD protection an upgrade is strongly recommended, and it is required alongside certain other work. An inspection will tell you exactly where you stand.
What will it cost?
It depends on the size of the installation and what testing finds. Send a photo of your existing board on WhatsApp for a straight answer.
